Save Lives With Rear View Camera

Some luxury cars now have a rear view camera fitted as standard but sadly not too many. And yet one of the most common accidents involving automobiles involves the car hitting someone or something standing behind.

Often with tragic and fatal results as reported just again a couple of weeks ago with a parent reversing out of the driveway and running over her own young child.

With parking increasingly difficult in most UK cities the other reason an on-board screen on the dash showing what is going on behind can help people is reversing into ever tighter spots.

Mind you, the days are fast approaching when smart cars will do the parking for you. The prototypes already exist and the computer technology is fascinating. All you have to do is bring the car level with a parking space and sensors along the side of the car will not only decide if there is enough room but will also proceed to park it.

Buy a rear view camera kit from somewhere like the In Car Music people and if you are a reasonably handy sort of person you should be able to fit it yourself.

Once you get used to using it you may wonder how you managed without it in the past. Drivers of motor homes should certainly have them fitted especially if they drive a normal saloon car most of the year and only use a motor home for summer holidays and occasional weekend trips.

We’ve all seen idiots in the summer towing caravans along the motorway at speeds in excess of seventy miles per hour and apparently this often happens because the driver temporarily has a moment when he forgets about the caravan.

The same may be said of mobile homes with drivers perhaps thinking they’re in their normal car and when it comes to reversing without a camera they will find it more difficult to judge the length and width of the vehicle.

Take a look at the many rear view cameras available and think about the safety element they can bring to parking.
